ST. LOUIS, MO., DECEMBER 9, 1998... An exclusive photograph of Mark McGwire's record setting 70th home run ball is now available for sale at the Marquess Gallery located at 127 Union Station, St. Louis, Missouri.
The red, white and blue color combination of the 20-inch by 30-inch print beautifully captures the true spirit of baseball and the patriotism felt by baseball fans everywhere when McGwire hit his 70th home run during the unforgettable 1998 baseball season. The finished, beautifully framed print measures 27-inches by 37-inches.
Nationally recognized photographer, St. Louisian Don Marquess, received exclusive rights to photograph the baseball from Philip Ozersky, the St. Louis resident who caught number 70. Seventy limited-edition prints have been made and each is signed by Marquess and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The prints are available for $2,500 each, and are on display at the Marquess Gallery located at 127 Union Station, St. Louis, Missouri. The seventieth limited edition print will be given to McGwire as a gift for his contributions to baseball and as a reminder of his tremendous accomplishments and generosity. In addition, $500 from the sale of each print will be donated to Cardinal Care children's charities.
In addition to the limited-edition prints, 7000 18-inch by 24-inch posters of the photo also have been made and are available for $70 each. Each poster will bear the imprint "Official photograph of the #70 home run baseball as caught by Philip Ozersky, September 27, 1998." Five dollars from the sale of each poster also will go to Cardinal Care.
"Mark McGwire has not only ignited the spirit of baseball for me and millions of other fans but his generosity and support to children's causes is an example to us all. This endeavor gives us the ability to help other baseball fans own their own piece of history and help a truly worthy cause at the same time," said Marquess.
Marquess Gallery also has an impressive collection of other baseball images captured by Don Marquess during the height of the 1998 season.
