PRESS RELEASE
New York, February, 2009 – As a commemoration of this year’s World Baseball Classic, the classic fine art print “Beisbol”is bring reintroduced by its creator.
“We brought ‘Beisbol’ to the market two years ago to a wonderful reaction, but we also knew it would be most timely and most appreciated in a year of the WBC,” said Don Marquess, the photographer and creator of the Marquess Gallery of St. Louis.
The Art Print features the flags of nine Latin American nations who foster baseball and whose players have played in the Major Leagues. The nine nation’s flags rest on the flag of the United States, topped by the image of a pristine baseball.
Don Marquess specializes in baseball still life – his creative placements of baseball objects, notably the ball itself, have won him acclaim both in photographic and sports circles. He shoots his photographs in natural light without a tripod, producing remarkably sharp and intensely colorful images.
“Beisbol” measures 18”x24” and is printed on special paper with an aqueous coating. It has been produced in limited edition of fewer than 2,000 prints.
The flags of Puerto Rico, Panama, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Columbia and Guatemala are represented on the print. Cuba, Dominican Republic, Panama, Puerto Rico and Venezuela are all competing in this year’s WBC, which runs March 5-23.
Latin Americans currently represent approximately 25% of all Major League players.
“Beisbol” sells for $45 or $165 matted and framed, plus UPS ground shipping. All prints are sent in flat packaging.
Marquess Gallery located at 127 Union Station, St. Louis, Missouri., (314) 997-7773. It is open to the public during normal mall hours.
